3 Pursuits That Will Help You Be the Example of Diligence
Diligent people rule the world.
Proverbs 12:24 says: The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.
Diligent people aren’t evil because of their diligence. Diligent people aren’t evil people who’ve found out how to rig the system. They’re people who don’t take no for an answer. Diligent people learn to lessen the time they procrastinate, waste effort and resources, and they learn how to maximize what is really important.
Anyone can be a diligent person.
Here are 3 things about diligence that will help you be better:
(1) Diligence is figuring out your gifts.
People in the upper echelon know their gifts and continue to find new ways to exploit them in their work lives and beyond. Their gifts create new opportunities to increase their diligence, because they can find fresh inspiration to move to greater heights in what they love. This continues to fuel inspiration, which in turn, fuels greater growth and more opportunities.
Pursue your gifts, be diligent at trying to use them, and never settle for what doesn’t support the definition of diligence.
(2) Diligence is continued follow-through.
Diligent people continue to deliver results. They don’t rest on past laurels, but look for new ones that will influence others. Diligent people have worked towards mastering the power of results. Follow-through gets noticed, and rewarded.
Be steady on your follow-through, and it will be noticed.
(3) Diligence is not thinking of being second-best.
Diligent people want to be leaders, and leaders don’t want to be second-best. Diligent people get the job done, and really don’t get content with much. On the heels of contentment comes someone who will overtake the diligent person. Diligence is taking the average in all of us and making it a product that inspires someone else.
Second-best ain’t bad, but it still isn’t #1.

Be diligent, as it inspires us to look toward the Creator who gave us our gifts. Glorify Him in your diligence, and it will help God’s Kingdom grow. Amen.
